Carl Sagan – 173

Carl Sagan is one of the world’s first celebrity scientists. He is perhaps best known for bringing science into the mainstream media, making it more interesting and accessible to the public. His credit role as the narrator and co-writer of the immensely influential TV series Cosmos cemented his legacy as one of the most important scientists in the world. The series became the most-watched series in the history of American television, with an estimated audience of over 500 million viewers across 60 countries.

Obviously, he is no ordinary scientist. His high IQ has enabled him to study and specialize in a wide array of scientific fields such as astronomy, planetary science, cosmology, astrophysics, and astrobiology. On top of that, he was also a successful author and poet.  He was an Associate Professor at Harvard and has published over 600 scientific articles and 20 books.
